  • FOLKLORE. The main folklore event is the "October feast". Pride, hunting and poaching, hospitality and love of good cuisine have always been the main features of the "sassetano" spirit. The "October Feast" - "Chestnut and Thrush Feast", that takes place every year in the last three Sundays of October, has its origins in these values and it states them with vigor. Being over 25 years old, it is one of the oldest traditional feats of the territory. In the lovely natural setting of the pretty mountain village, you will find thrushes, guinea-fowls and chicken all roasted on the huge spit set up in the square. The bills posted promise local specialities and generous wine from our hills and these promises are kept!

The Thrush feast was born in 1963 thanks to the Tourism Committee and it has been relaunched in 1978 by the Public Assistance. Later with the contribution of the local Council and of other Associations, the Feast has been extended and improved, with the addition of other Feasts in October, of an historical Tournament, of an historical Procession (that tells the story of the Orlandis, the descendants of Tigrino della Sassetta), and of numerous other parallel events: all of this goes by the name of "October Feast".
